In today's world, our society seems to function on our illness. The dis-ease, if you will of our personal well-being. In order to stop this charade dead in it's tracks, we need to find the root cause of our affliction. To start, mental health is key to our well-being. It is much like keeping a garden. If you want a healthy plant, then you need healthy soil. Keeping our state-of-mind healthy will ensure a healthy body. A lot of a person's mindset can be altered just by simply meditation and a daily gratitude list. Some of my worst days have been alleviated just by looking at all I have to be grateful in this world. Sometimes, all you can be grateful for is the air you breathe, but it's most certainly a step in the right direction.
Aside from maintenance on my website, I spend my days with my 2 daughters and their dad. Whom, believe it or not was once my husband for 12 years before finally giving each other the boot. But 4 years later, we reconciled and now we are full time parents again. And when those guys aren't giving me a run for my money, I do some copywriting on the side. It doesn't pay the bills...yet. As for recreation, I've got a garden I'm currently in the midst of planning, and talking about all the herbs we are starting in the greenhouse. It's a busy life. Want to know how I keep my energy up all day long? Lots of breaks and a soothing herbal tea to help me unwind at night. Chamomile, lavender are always in the mix, but dandelion root, linden flower, skullcap, blue vervain, and lupulo finds its way into my tea as well. Want to know what each of these herbs do? Let me just say, alot. First, I think it's fair to say almost everyone has heard of chamomile and lavender. They have a calming effect on the body, and is wonderful when you need to sleep. Also tastes great in a tea. Then Skullcap, which is great for calming the tension in your muscles as it is a nervine. Also is said to ease the nerves. So for anyone with anxiety, like myself, it is a must-have in my tea. Linden flower is said to be a sedative, but also calms you, which is why I always have it in my nighttime tea. Blue vervain is great for anxiety and stress. And lupulo helps lower blood pressure, so when you've been worked up all day, it slows down your system and helps the other herbs do their magic. No matter how good or bad of a day I've had, when I drink this tea at night, I will almost always be settled down in 30 minutes and drift off to sleep with some binary beats playing in my headphones. If you aren't aware of what that is, it's where one frequency is played in one headphone, and the frequency is either a bit higher or bit lower on the other headphone. So that both hemispheres of your brain connect and work together. Which is something it doesn't normally do. When you listen to binary beats often, your brain will begin to work together even when you aren't listening to the sounds. YouTube has many playlists of these sounds. Go check them out and prepare to be amazed.
In my early years, I grew up in a small farming community where we had our own garden, and where going out to eat wasn't much of an option. My 8 siblings and I were pretty much stuck on our little farm to tend to the multitude of farm animals and our half acre garden during the summer. My father taught us how to fish, hunt, forge in the woods, and butcher our livestock. It was a humble life, but a wonderful one none-the-less. As I grew older and graduated high school, I would end up living back in my hometown and teaching my husband and his family how to garden and can their harvest. What I've taught them has taken on a life of it's own and now my ex in-laws have huge gardens and can everything they grow!
